Join us in recognizing CoMakiya, Procurement Manager at the Cook County Office of the Chief Procurement Office in Illinois and our dedicated Chapter Ambassador. With over 18 years in the procurement profession, CoMakiya's journey, sparked by a simple recommendation, has made a significant impact on our field. She deeply values procurement as the lifeblood of organizations, influencing society on all levels.
Her passion for involvement shone brightly after attending the NIGP Forum in Boston in 2022, leading to active volunteerism with the UPPCC and the Illinois Association of Public Procurement Officials (IAPPO), where she currently serves as a Board Member and Professional Development Chairperson. A truly memorable moment for CoMakiya was receiving a nomination for the prestigious 2024 NIGP Manager of the Year from CEO Rick Grimm.
A strong advocate for professional development and procurement, CoMakiya actively engages in outreach, training, and peer mentoring. As a facilitator for industry sessions and conferences, she generously shares her extensive knowledge. Holding the esteemed credentials of NIGP-CPP, CPPO, and CPPB, and with a Bachelor of Science from Chicago State University and ongoing education, CoMakiya embodies lifelong learning. Beyond her professional achievements, she is an active member of Toastmasters International and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, a devoted mother of two, and an IHSA certified cheerleading coach.
